Day 7

It was time to say goodbye to Chiang Mai and head south about 900 miles to the islands of Phuket (pronounced Poo-ket).  We got off the plane and made our way outside to figure out how to get to our beach bungalows.  Nope, no Uber here, we learned right away that Phuket would be the most expensive of our three destinations.  The price they wanted to go half the distance was at least double. But double of super-cheap was still Cheap compared to the US!

I think of all the places this was the one we were most nervous about the accommodations and if they were going to be what we thought they were going to be.  Their web presence isn't very good.  We were extremely happy and loved our stay here.

Check out Thảo and Jerame standing on the porch of their bungalow with the water right behind them.  Jed and my bungalow is about 30 feet away.  We had air conditioning and a mini fridge along with a full bathroom.  What more could you want on the beach?

This picture was taken in the little shack in the center of the bungalows.  During peak season it is a bar, but since we were the only occupants at the place we had it all to ourselves (well, us and our security guard).

Taking us to get settled.  I love the luggage cart with big wheels and the sand pathways and sandals.

Here it is our bedroom with the air conditioner up top left, a shelf for clothes and some hangers.  The table and just beyond that was the fridge.  The door is to the bathroom.

The bathroom had a sink, western toilet and a shower.  It actually even had a little part wall between the toilet and shower.

It is beautiful and the ocean sounds wonderful!  That first night we slept with our windows open and listened to the ocean all night.  It was still a little warm so we decided to go with A/C the rest of the time.

We got settled and then went exploring.  Not much to explore as we were nestled between a couple of hotels but there were a few open market eateries and a massage place.  However they wanted triple of Bangkok and Chiang Mai and we could never talk ourselves into that.

In the Hilton next door was this letter.

We found this place to eat right away, we tried a couple of other places and they were ok, but this was our favorite.  Mama's!

And then we played games in the hut and relaxed on the beach.  It was so nice!

A storm would roll in every afternoon.

 Day 7 = Success
